Here’s a new interview with singer/songwriter Mike Hadreas, aka Perfume Genius. He talks with Clash Music about how he got started, the drugs equal creativity myth, and depression. I love listening to Mike because he talks like he writes music—very simple and straight forward. He doesn’t muck up his answers by making them too long or complicated.

Even when he’s talking about difficult things like addiction or depression, he’s funny. He’s very likable.

He mentions his video ‘Dark Parts’, which is about his mom, and says that’s what he is most proud of right now. It’s a great song and video, if you haven’t seen it yet, check it out here.

Then he talks about his video for ‘Hood’, which was labeled as ‘age restricted’ on Youtube. Probably because it shows two men holding each other and one of them is a porn star, I don’t know, but the video is cool.  Both songs are from his latest album, ‘Put Your Back N 2 It’.
