Cat Power And Gay Zombies In The California Desert?
It’s too early in the morning for this shit. Jesus. Okay, so Cat Power has just unveiled the full video for ‘Cherokee’. It’s a great song, from the even better new album, ‘Sun’, but this video is making daddy’s head hurt.
We saw a teaser clip a couple weeks ago, so we knew to expect the Mad Max vibe, but the zombies came out of left field. Now, don’t get me wrong I love a good zombie. I grew up on George Romero movies and even embraced the bad shit like ‘Night of the Comet’. But when I see a pink triangle I think of a cock-gobbler, so it’s a little queer that Cat feels compelled to shoot at zombies wearing pink triangles. But then again, there’s some lesbian Indians that look like they get married too. Oh, and at least one guy has a super-soaker that he bought at Toys R Us and then spray-painted silver. I’m so confused.
With all that being said, just give me a couple hours to shake the sleep out of my eyes and I’ll probably be championing this for video of the year.

i was so excited for the video to be released. the little 20 second clip was pretty interesting. but the full length video is terrible. really terrible.
it’s cheesy, and i don’t get the glowing triangles. also, the crystal buried in the sand, it looks like whoever worked on the set just didn’t care.
yeah, no good. and i wanted to love it.
i know! so weird…apparently it’s her directorial debut. let’s just pretend it didn’t happen.
