Bernhard Willhelm: Taking Fashion To The Future, Right Now
Absurdist German designer Bernhard Willhelm replaces the traditional runway show for Spring/Summer 2013 with Faceshift technology and 3D Studio Max animations all on his interactive website. FYI…I’ve replaced some of these creatures with animated GIFs to illustrate the concept here on KELLYGREEN [blog]. For the full experience, head over to Bernhard’s website.
The moving images were created by Geoffrey Lillemon at Random Studio in Amsterdam. Geoffrey tells Creative Applications Network, “It’s a visually compelling experience that aims to show a new way of looking at fashion collections and stimulates ideas about what the models of the future may look like.”
The process of creating digital ‘runway’ models opened up many new experiences in fashion and technology. For instance, a computer technologist became a de-facto hair and makeup artist for a ready-to-wear fashion show, perhaps the first time ever?
In case this isn’t all clear, Bernhard would like to reach out in a way that is perhaps more universal: “Hey, what’s up? I love sex and I love making love. I am clever, employed, well-read, opinionated, single and my mom constantly assures me, despite the horrendous photos, that I am irresistible. Just recently, I decided that I would not die so it is inevitable too that I will realize my dream which is to be an ex-asshole and to be a rich, contented bum. If you like what you see, www.bernhardwillhelm.com”
Touché.
More after the jump.
