Trailer: Matteo Garrone’s ‘Reality’

[ , , , , ]

‘GOMORRAH’ DIRECTOR’S DELUSIONAL ‘BIG BROTHER’ FANTASY IS AN EXPLORATION OF A FAME-OBSESSED FISH MONGER IN ITALY

What’s it take to get on the ‘Big Brother’ reality TV show and what happens when you don’t make it? This surreal Buñuelian follow-up to director Matteo Garrone’s gangster drama ‘Gomorrah’ mesmerized some at Cannes and had many comparing it to Martin Scorsese’s brilliant ‘King of Comedy’. Some people hated it. Interestingly, Scorsese produced ‘Gomorrah’.

The trailer makes it feel a little like ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ set in Italy and instead of ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire’, the game show of choice is ‘Big Brother’. It could go either way, but it definitely looks interesting.

‘Reality’ will be released on March 15th in New York and March 22nd in Los Angeles.
