[more]Raf Simons Gives Us More Raf Simons At Dior: J’adore!
And thank god. I’ve certainly made it no secret that I have not been pleased with Raf’s initial collections for Dior since taking it over nearly a year ago. Mainly because I love him and I didn’t see too much of him coming through. It was all Dior and more specifically, Christian Dior. Like, from the 50s. Snore. I’m not really interested in retro pretty. Or, at least, the pretty has to be balanced with some edge.
Raf definitely has the edge, so why not bring that into the pretty at Dior? As we’ve seen from his eponymous line as well as the work he did over at Jil Sander, he loves bold, bright color, assymetrical cuts and art prints.
Well, here we go. Dior Fall 2013 RTW has all three! it’s really all I ever wanted! A little Dior mixed in with Raf, not the other way around. I love all the Warhol prints used in the collection. And the shoes. Check out the shoes! Now, I don’t know if you can actually walk in them, but that’s not my problem.

I’m all over Mua Mua. These cutie-pie handmade dolls are the brainchild of the brilliant Ludovica Virga. She says the dolls, “take a light hearted look at celebrities and the fashion industry, portraying a scarred version of the real person in order to express their humanity, and make people laugh, thus turning bad energy into good.”
Now, I don’t know about all that, but I do know they are cute as fuck and I want one (or four). I can’t decide. Maybe Karl Lagerfeld? Lady Gaga, Donatella? Andy?
The dolls are made by hand by artisans in a “Warhol inspired art factory” in Bali. I think the cutest one is Jimi Hendrix. See him and others after the jump. Oh, and in case you don’t recognize that sassy little ass up above, it belongs to none other than Miss Beyonce Knowles.

Remember when the WWE was the WWF? Remember when professional wrestling was so cool you carried a Rowdy Roddy Piper Trapper Keeper in your duffel bag? Yep! It was so cool that even Andy Warhol himself bought into the hype.
In this vintage clip from 1985, the legendary artist is interviewed by the equally legendary Mean Gene Okerlund backstage at The War To Settle The Score! Andy is so thrilled, so excited, so beyond himself he nearly bursts into hysterics.
I hadn’t seen Andy this excited since he paid a pack of down-on-their-luck street hustlers to sit around, drink Mexican beer, and urinate on specially prepared canvases for what would ultimately become his ‘piss paintings’ (check out some of those after the jump).
