RICCARDO TISCI BRINGS HIS DARK ROMANTICISM TO THE BALLET
Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci debuts his first-ever ballet costumes tonight in Paris. Belgian choreographers Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Damien Jalet’s take on Ravel’s ‘Boléro’ premieres this evening at the Opéra Garnier in the city of light.
Tisci’s good friend, artist Marina Abramovic designed the all black set pieces, which are anchored by a large mirror that will reflect the 11 dancers, according to WWD. The dancers will all be wearing the same unisex costume, a skeleton-clad bodysuit covered by a sheer dress made of nude-colored tulle. Their faces will be painted with a black lace motif. The look will be revealed when the dancers remove a long black cape, also designed by Tisci.
“‘Boléro’ is all about intensity. The music has such an intense feeling. I wanted the dancers to feel naked somehow,” said Tisci. “They shed several layers as they dance just like the life cycle of animals, or flowers losing their petals. They become these moving skeletons, strong and fragile at the same time.”

HUMORLESS ANNA WINTOUR DOESN’T GET PUNK, SO WHY SHOULD SHE REALLY GET VIVIENNE WESTWOOD?
If the fact that the upcoming Met Costume Gala’s theme is punk (there’s nothing less punk than Anna Wintour) isn’t ridiculous enough, Anna’s scrapping what could’ve been the most interesting part. Yep, a 40-ft nude statue of Vivienne Westwood was deemed a ‘needless distraction’ and therefore canceled. Attendees of the exhibition, ‘Punk: Chaos To Culture’, the centerpiece of this year’s gala, would’ve been able to project graffiti style images onto a sculpture of the iconic designer’s nude body.
Instead, Anna’s chosen
[more]John Galliano To Teach At Parsons
The last thing I need is to listen to some self-righteous fool talk about how John Galliano should never work again. Like their drunk ass hasn’t ever said anything rude. Especially if you’re a drunk, exhausted queen (you know who you are). Anybutt, the good news is Johnny pink cheeks is going to be teaching a masterclass at Parsons The New School For Design!
‘SHOW ME EMOTION’ is a three day class that will be taught by Galliano at the school’s New York City campus. It will be followed by a fourth day of critiques and discussions with Galliano and the students.
Most recently Galliano teamed up with Oscar de la Renta and helped him with his Fall 2013 collection. It was a strange partnership, but it was apparently fruitful and who doesn’t love knowing that Galliano is working again?

Hedi Slimane continues his embrace of all things music at Saint Laurent. A few days ago, we got a glimpse of all the musicians starring in the new YSL ads, now we get a video of sorts.
Uploaded to YSL’s Youtube page as the ‘Saint Laurent Music Project / Daft Punk’, this short clip gives us a nice view of some stage wear for the band designed by Hedi Slimane for Saint Laurent.
If you remember back to October 2012, Mr. Slimane hired Daft Punk to create the music for his first Saint Laurent show.
They are currently playing at Coachella. The band’s new album ‘Random Access Memories’ comes out on May 21.
Jump in for a teaser clip of the album featuring Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers (who’s producing the album).
