British artist Lorna May Wadsworth is making it really easy for you to put some nice original artwork on your walls. Each season, she produces 100 pieces and sells them for £100 (US$158) each. You just can’t beat it. She covers all sorts of subject matter, but here I’ve pulled just fashion-oriented stuff. I quite like the shopping bags, don’t you?

In Jean-Paul Gaultier’s clever Spring 2013 Runway ready-to-wear show in Paris, the designer paid tribute to the stars of the 80s who’ve inspired fashion. Model Karlie Kloss was Boy George, Joan Smalls was Sade, and Jessica Stam was Madonna! There was also David Bowie, Grace Jones, Annie Lennox, and Jane Birkin, among others.
While the theme was 80s celebrities, the looks had definite nods to iconic pieces from Gaultier’s 90s shows. I loved the reinterpretation of the ‘invisible jackets’ that were used for ‘Keep It Together’ during Madonna’s ‘Blond Ambition’ tour.
Gaultier said the show was about, “people who had an influence on fashion, just as I was personally influenced by David Bowie in his way of being and dressing.” He said of Madonna, “[she] was the post-feminist, what came after the bra-burning years. She said ‘Yes, I am going to dress sexy, but I am the one deciding to do it’.”

Today we get to see some costume sketches for Madonna’s MDNA World Tour which launches tonight in Tel Aviv. For this go around, Madonna enlisted a handful of designers to create the looks. Most notably, Jean Paul Gaultier is returning after creating some brilliant equine/bondage looks for her Confessions Tour, the fabulous Jeremy Scott also returns, as does Madonna’s longtime style collaborator, the delicious Arianne Phillips.
My favorite of these just released sketches is definitely the Gaultier look. It’s classic Gaultier meets Madonna and reinterpreted for the 21st century, complete with a 3D corset in metallic leather. Yum. Monsieur Gaultier told WWD, “I love Madonna. She is the only woman I have asked to marry me. She refused, of course. But when she asked me to do a costume for her for this tour, I couldn’t refuse.”
Check out the rest of the sketches, after the jump.

Apparently Jean Paul Gaultier had a kinky grandma. She was the inspiration behind his first cone bra, which he made for his teddy, Nana, when he was just a little bitch (you can see Nana’s worn out ass above). Now, I’m not sure if he was inclined to Oedipal plushie perv shit, but naming a stuffed furry beast after your grandmother and then hot glue-gunning a newspaper cone bra to it’s chest is some serious, deep end of the swimming pool, psychological mind fucking.
Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Obviously JPG was
