Kanye West: Finally, Post-Wiig Brilliance On SNL
After a full year of disappointing Saturday Night Live without Kristen Wiig (even with last week’s unfunny Kristen Wiig) we finally have something to talk about.
Kanye West performed two new songs, ‘Black Skinhead’ and ‘New Slaves’ last night on SNL. Both better than anything else we’ve seen on the sketch show in quite sometime. On Friday night Kanye debuted (unannounced) a video projection of ‘New Slaves’ on 66 walls around the world including Prada’s 5th Avenue store.
Last night was the first time we’ve seen him perform his new work. His performance was an artfully controlled fury of anger, defiance, self-reliance, empowerment and as always, clever wordplay. He snarled and barked in front of large video projections of dobermans and discount sale signs. The most prominent one reading: ‘Not For Sale’.
Something no one ever says about Kanye? He uses simple lighting to great effect in his live performances.
Kanye’s new album, ‘Yeezus’ will be released on June 18.
Check out his performance of ‘New Slaves’ after the jump.

[more]Um, Miuccia Prada Is Worth How Much?
Okay, so Forbes unleashed its annual rankings of the world’s billionaires last night. And of course, the usual suspects litter the list: Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Bernard Arnault, and my personal favorite, Liliane Bettencourt (the 90-year Estée Lauder kitten is worth a cool $30 million AND has a hot young piece on her arm, to boot).
But what I didn’t know was that Miuccia Prada isn’t messing around with that co-conspirator husband of hers, Patrizio Bertelli. The Prada Designer is worth $12.4 billion (Patrizio’s net worth is estimated at $6.7 billion). I thought Ralph Lauren was doing okay, but his broke-ass clocks in at only $7 billion this year. Even I’m worth 8.

[more]Serial Killer Chic At Prada?
“The inspiration for the hair and makeup at Prada S/S 2013 has a very interesting inspiration, none other than infamous serial killer, Aileen Wuornos. ‘Her story, especially her hair and natural raw, disheveled look has been very inspirational to me this season,’ said Miuccia Prada.”
Now, I would be more inclined to believe this odd little piece if it wasn’t for the fact that the Prada look in question is actually from Fall/Winter 2013, not Spring/Summer. But hey, a girl can dream, can’t she?
[more]Chloë Sevigny Does Miu Miu…Again!
I new something was up when Chloë was wearing head-to-toe Miu Miu at the Met Ball earlier this year. Usually, she’d break it up a little and not go full tilt one designer, accessories and everything. Well there was a reason—she’s the new face of Miu Miu!
There she is in a shot from the 2012 Fall campaign, shot by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott. If this feels like déjà vu, don’t worry—you’re not crazy. Chloë was the face of Prada’s second line way back in 1996 too.
This campaign follows the Mia Wasikowska series of ads from Spring, which we loved so much.
For another shot from the new campaign and one from the old one, jump in.
[more]Madonna MDNA World Tour Costumes
Today we get to see some costume sketches for Madonna’s MDNA World Tour which launches tonight in Tel Aviv. For this go around, Madonna enlisted a handful of designers to create the looks. Most notably, Jean Paul Gaultier is returning after creating some brilliant equine/bondage looks for her Confessions Tour, the fabulous Jeremy Scott also returns, as does Madonna’s longtime style collaborator, the delicious Arianne Phillips.
My favorite of these just released sketches is definitely the Gaultier look. It’s classic Gaultier meets Madonna and reinterpreted for the 21st century, complete with a 3D corset in metallic leather. Yum. Monsieur Gaultier told WWD, “I love Madonna. She is the only woman I have asked to marry me. She refused, of course. But when she asked me to do a costume for her for this tour, I couldn’t refuse.”
Check out the rest of the sketches, after the jump.
